Laurence Mieg, Artisan

After training in art embroidery at the renown “Lesage School” in Paris, she set up on her own studio and hosted embroidery workshops for both adults and children in the community art center. As founder of the “Croix, Fil and Company” association and chairwoman of “France Point de Croix”, the French national association for cross-stitching, she organized numerous exhibitions to present these different techniques.

Laurence first discovered caning as an employee and then manager of a workshop for visually-impaired adults in rush and caning restoration.

She passed the CAP de paillage cannage en ameublement and decided in 2007 to create her own workshop, “L’Art du Cannage”, settled in Croix, France, 8 rue de Chicago.

In order to go further in the field of caning, she  undertakes a Master 2 Recherche en Patrimoine et conservation-restauration at Paris 1 – Panthéon Sorbonne University in 2011. The subject of the report she graduates with “BIEN” mention is : « spécificités technologiques du cannage ajouré ».
